Resources for Learning Multiplication Times Tables

I have written a book about times tables: Teach Your Kids Math: Multiplication Times Tables.

Whether or not you have read my book, here are some other resources, tips, and websites that you may find useful for learning times tables.

Disclosure: In some cases, our company may receive a commission payment if you purchase a product or service after following one of these links.

Anyway, here are the links:

  • Times Table Posters

One of the tips that I give in my book, Teach Your Kids Math: Multiplication Times Tables, is to put up a times table poster in a prominent location in your home - for example, above the breakfast table. You can get some good posters from Amazon and other stores, both online and offline.

  • Times Tables Placemat

I thought this was a pretty cool idea - get a placemat for the dinner table with the times tables printed on it.

    Get it using these links:

  • Time for Tables

This is a software package for Windows PCs. It contains a set of five fun interactive games for learning times tables, all with attractive graphics.

Games like this are a great way for getting kids to want to practice.

And, in this package, as well as the games, you also get interactive worksheets, printable flash cards, and the ability to track your child's progress using charts/reports.

  • Making Math More Fun

This is a set of printable math games for school or homeschool use. The package includes board games, card games, and games sheets, and covers a wide range of math topics.

The package covers an incredible range of math topics (yes, including multiplication), which are bound to be of help in developing your child's math skills for the first few years of school.

  • The Math Board Games Book

This is a set of printable math board games that you can download and print. A range of math topics are covered, including multiplication upto 9x9.

Note: This package was created by the same authors as Making Math More Fun. It seems that Making Math More Fun is a bit more expensive - although it includes more varied content. However, from either site you can also get the "GOLD Math Collection" which seems like the best of both worlds - and the best overall deal, including the most books.

    Multiplication Bingo Cards
  • Multiplication Bingo Cards

Multiplication / Times Table Bingo is another fun learning activity that you can play with your kids.

Here are some free printables for multiplication bingo:

Alternatively, you can create your own math bingo cards (or bingo cards for any topic in fact) using the Bingo Card Printer software. There is even a free trial version of this software, which you can try out before deciding if you wish to purchase the full version.

  • Times Table Flash Cards

Flash cards are a well-proven method for practicing multiplication tables and other arithmetic problems.

This is a nice set of flash cards that goes up to the 12 times table (there are a total of 169 cards in the set). The questions are on one side, and the answers on the other.

    Get it using these links:

  • Multiplication War

Kids love the game of War, and will often happily play it for hours (although you will have to play it with them). So, this is a great way to get kids to practice times tables and make learning fun.

Also: Be sure to read the parent's comments at Amazon, as some of them have come up with very innovative variations for their kids to play.

  • Math-Aids.Com Multiplication Worksheets

Free sets of printable multiplication worksheets on a very wide range of topics.
